Dr. John J. "Jack" Harrington, beloved father, brother, partner, uncle, dentist, veteran, and friend, passed away on October 24, 2026. Jack lived a life defined by service, generosity, curiosity, and an unwavering devotion to the people he loved. Born on November 25, 1951, Jack graduated with academic honors from Worthington High School in 1969 and was the first recipient of the Worthington Education Association Scholarship award. A gifted and driven student, he went on to earn his dental degree from The Ohio State University College of Dentistry in 1975 at just 23 years of age. Answering the call to serve his country, Jack spent five years in the United States Army, serving both overseas and stateside and attaining the rank of Major. His military service instilled in him a lifelong sense of duty, discipline, and pride in his country. Following his military service, Jack built a highly successful and respected dental practice that he led for more than 35 years. His patients valued not only his exceptional skill, but also his warmth, integrity, and genuine care. Jack believed deeply in giving back, and he generously volunteered his time and talents to provide dental care for underprivileged members of the community. In recognition of this selfless work, he was honored with a Community Citizen of the Year award. A proud member of his local Rotary Club for more than 20 years, Jack embodied the Rotary ideal of "Service Above Self." Outside of his practice, he embraced life with boundless enthusiasm and a wide range of interests, including traveling, golfing, sailing, woodworking, cooking, photography, high speed driver education, and so much more. Whether he was out on the water, on the course, on the track, in his workshop, or in the kitchen, Jack approached every pursuit with the same curiosity and care he brought to his profession. Above all, Jack was a loving and caring father who took immense pride in his two children and their many successes. He was preceded in death by his parents, John J. and Dorothy Anne Harrington. He is survived by his longtime partner MaryAnn Magers, son, Rob; his daughter, Joan; sisters Ellen Harrington (John Stodola) and Kathy Frissora (Gino); his brother, Captain Bob Harrington, USN (Ret), and wife Teresa; and his nieces and nephews, Monica, Jack, Pete, Michael, John, Anza, and Talia.
