Marcia Whitehead Watterson, age 73, passed away unexpectedly on December 17, leaving behind a family and community who loved her deeply and will miss her greatly. Marcia was born on May 30, 1952, to Barb and Don Whitehead. She spent many years in Worthington, Ohio, before later making her home in Marietta, Georgia. Wherever she lived, she formed lasting friendships and meaningful connections, guided by warmth, generosity, and a sincere care for others. She was the loving wife of 46 years to Bill Watterson, with whom she built a life marked by partnership, steadiness, and shared purpose. She was a devoted mother to Andrew Watterson and Meg (Watterson) Daws, and a cherished mother-in-law to Alexandra Moravec and Barrett Daws. She was also a close and caring sister to Patricia Brown. Marcia took great joy in her role as a grandmother and shared a close and loving bond with her grandchildren, Merritt Watterson, age 9, and Rhett Daws, age 7, and William Daws, age 5. Time spent with them was a constant source of pride and happiness. She loved gardening and could often be found working in the dirt with an iced tea close at hand. She enjoyed travel and had an adventurous spirit. She valued her friendships deeply and took particular pleasure in bringing people together. A talented social worker by training, Marcia dedicated her professional life to caring for others. She carried that same commitment into her volunteer work where she found purpose in service and stewardship.
