Lisa M. Thomas Osterville, MA - Lisa M. Thomas, nee Stimets passed away peacefully on April 15th, 2019 at her Osterville, MA home after a lengthy battle with breast cancer. The older child of Richard Rice Stimets (Dick) and Virginia Campana Stimets (Ginger), she was preceded in death by her younger brother Rick and father, Dick Stimets, both of Osterville. Lisa was born in 1957 at Cape Cod Hospital in Hyannis, MA, and is a 12th generation Cape Codder. She lived in several cities, growing up- Barrington, RI, Houston, TX, Columbus, OH, Chatham Township, NJ. and most recently, Hudson, OH. She and her brother, Rick attended numerous schools, as her father's job commitments took them on several moves. She did follow in her Mother's footsteps and attended Freshman year at Wheaton College. She graduated from the The Ohio State University with a BA in Communications. Lisa was President and co-owner of CardPak, Inc in Solon, OH, having worked 20 years for the company, and brought with her extensive strategic planning skills. She started her career at Wendy's International, and was Dave Thomas' first female director of EEOC. She managed a large law firm, worked in Cleveland as an HR specialist, and prior to joining CardPak, became a certified financial planner with IDS/ American Express. Both her father and brother also worked as financial planners for IDS. One of her passions was to provide higher educational opportunities for her family, as well as several employees through a tuition refund program and several individuals, personally. She balanced a rigorous and challenging personal career, building her company from 70 to 150 employees. Simultaneously, she raised five children, and was heavily involved in all of their activities. She and her husband, Rick of 24 years were fortunate to travel extensively overseas for personal trips and all over the US, to see many of CardPak's 1800 customers in all 50 states. Lisa and Rick sold the company in 2016, retired, and were fortunate to have a lot of free time for themselves, family and friends. One of Lisa's great life lessons she taught all of us was that no matter how busy you are in life with your job and family obligations, you simply have to carve out a one or two week getaway trip, and spend that time solely focused on yourselves as a couple. As she always said ,"The kids will be just fine with Grandma and Grandpa". She traveled to the Great Wall of China, vacationed on Bora Bora, traveled most European countries, and went every year to her time share in Aruba. She and Rick went to New York City every Christmas. She was fortunate to enjoy her summers on the Cape (as she had for her whole life), and was as a member of the Oyster Harbors Club. She enjoyed golf, shell fishing, paddle boarding, and the family boat, the Transfusion. Her father, Dick Stimets (former caddy for Francis Ouimet) won the Oyster Harbors club championship 25 times, a record likely never to be broken. He also won 12 other club championships in the many clubs he played as a guest. Lisa got to travel numerous times with her brother and parents to Scotland where her father, Dick was a member of the Royal and Ancient. She is survived by her husband of 24 years, Richard Thomas, Sr and Mother, Ginger Stimets. She raised five children, Dr. Richard Thomas Jr. of Seattle, Paul Ryan Wilcox, spouse Michelle, of Pittsburgh, Dr. Paul Thomas of San Francisco, Courtney Wilcox and fiancé Anthony Margadonna of Osterville, and John Henry Thomas of Hudson. She is also survived by her brother's children, Jacky DiMeco, husband Rocco, children Cecilia, Rocco III, and Emelia of Winona, MN, Ricky Stimets of Osterville, and Amy Stimets of Austin.
