Daniel Platt Tripp (43) passed from this life on Thursday, May 7, 2026, following a long illness. Dan was born on December 30, 1982, in Columbus, Ohio, the second child of John and Detta (Vogel) Tripp. He spent his childhood and teenage years in the Columbus area, graduating from Thomas Worthington High School in 2001. During high school, Dan explored his passion for videography and following graduation he attended and completed his certificate at the Ohio Center for Broadcasting (OCB) in Cincinnati, Ohio. Following graduation from OCB, Dan stayed in the Cincinnati and northern Kentucky area where he worked in the banking/finance industry before shifting gears to work in the hospitality industry. Eventually, he made his way to Florida – first stopping in Panama City Beach before Dan settled in Port Orange, Florida in 2016 where he lived until his passing. Dan, “Tripp” as most people called him, developed many friendships along the way. He was quite approachable and easily engaged with people, making them quickly feel as though they had been friends for many years. Known for his sharp sense of humor, Tripp would often share his quick and clever wit and thoroughly relished any opportunity to play off others around him. Tripp was a fan of many sports, including baseball, football, hockey, and professional wrestling. His favorite teams included the Ohio State Buckeyes, the Cincinnati Reds, the Daytona Tortugas, and whomever is playing Xichigan this week. Dan not only enjoyed attending games but also interacting with the mascots. He was an avid consumer of media in all forms. He loved reading, watching movies, and listening to all kinds of music as well as a copious assortment of podcasts. He was an excellent (video) gamer. Dan also enjoyed taking photos of wildlife and he loved, loved, loved his sweet beagle girl, Little Miss Lily (LML) – who was, without a doubt, waiting for him to join her on the other side of the Rainbow Bridge. Dan is survived by his father, John L. Tripp, his stepmother Patricia (Campbell) Tripp, his brother Michael D. Tripp and stepbrother William T. Inman, plus many aunts, uncles, and cousins, on both his mother’s and father’s side of the family. Dan was preceded in death by his mother, Detta (Vogel) Tripp, paternal grandparents John Carroll and Grace (Platt) Tripp, maternal grandparents John Dent and Mary Geraldine “Jerry” (Dougherty) Vogel, their infant son James, and aunt Kathleen (Tripp) Lewis. Dan will be dearly missed by family and his friends across the country, with whom he built quality lifelong friendships. But none more so than Daniel Cox - friend, supporter, confidant, and above all, the love of his life.
