Barbara Ann Bauer passed away April 27, 2024, surrounded by family. Barbara was born March 14th, 1939, the daughter of John and Dorothy Tregembo. Barbara grew up in Monongahela, Pennsylvania with her older brother Jerry and her twin brother Barry. Barbara and Barry went on to attend Grove City College. Barbara held the special bond of being a twin throughout her life. Barbara was very active at Grove City, holding leadership roles in her class and sorority, making lifelong friends that remained important throughout her life. It was at Grove City that she met and fell in love with Donald Bauer. They married July 13, 1960, and headed off together, following Don's career in the Air Force to Texas, London, Chicago, and Columbus, where their children Brent, Brian, Barry, and Donna were born. Barbara created a loving home for her growing family with all the adventures and challenges of life in the military. After leaving the Air Force, Barbara and Don settled in Columbus, Ohio where they lived out their long and eventful lives. As her kids grew, Barbara returned to college and qualified to teach, launching a 15-year career teaching business at Worthington High School. Barbara was a beloved teacher to her many students, including to her own children on occasion. The four Bauer kids all benefited from and were inspired by Barbara's multifaceted connection to their lives during their school years. Later in life Barbara and Don greatly enjoyed travel, including many cruises and trips to visit their kids. Barbara loved tennis, playing until she was nearly 80, and she had a deep love for music, playing the piano her whole life. Barbara had a particular passion for animals, including the many Boston Terriers that were an important part of her life. She volunteered as a docent at the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium for many years, specializing in penguins. She was devoted to her entire family, but her love for Don was at the core of her being. Their love spanned more than six decades, creating a sense of home and connection for their large and growing family. Barbara and Don were most proud of their 13 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. Whether the family gathered at their home in Dublin, at the Bogey Inn down the road, or at the annual family gatherings at the Outer Banks, time with family was at the center of their lives. Barbara was preceded in death by her husband Donald W. Bauer, who passed away December 5, 2023. She is survived by her brothers Jerry (wife Letty) and Barry (wife Jackie) Tregembo; Children Brent (wife Paula Jurcenko), Brian (wife Lori), Barry (wife Beth) and Donna Severance (Husband Steve); Grandchildren Alexandria, Katarina, Jacob, Alyson, Emily, Carly, Samantha, Sophia, Adam, Emily, Ted, Brooke and Jared; Great Grandchildren Joseph, Benjamin, Quinnly, and Haizley; and of course, Penny her beloved Boston Terrier.
