Linda Yvonne Wetters (74) of Worthington, OH died on June 11, 2022, after a brief illness. Linda is preceded in death by her parents George W. Wetters and Phyllis I. Wetters. She is survived by her sisters Diane (Hale) Whipkey and Barbara Wetters, her niece Rachel Whipkey and nephew Evan (Alishia) Whipkey and great-niece Elyse. Linda was a dedicated daughter, supportive sister, enthusiastic aunt, trusted friend, and fervent advocate. She will be greatly missed. Spanning her career of over 40 years, Linda served as an advocate, activist, and champion for people with disabilities. Through her leadership roles at the Bureau of Vocational Rehabilitation, Columbus State Community College, and the State of Ohio office of Opportunities for Ohioans with Disabilities, Linda worked tirelessly to encourage accountability and equality, ensuring all Ohioans had the opportunity to participate equally in the work and learning environments. In 2004, she was able to expand her impact nationally, influencing rehabilitation and education services as a Presidential appointee to the National Council on Disability (NCD) through the Bush and Obama Administrations. Upon her retirement, Linda continued to serve and advocate for the rights of all people to learn and work. She summarized her goals to “continue to work, mostly through volunteer assignments, to improve public policy as it relates to people with disabilities, and their families, and advocates”. Through her work, her friendships, and her family, Linda touched the lives of so many. She was a true light, inspiring connection for cause and joy and laughter, encouraging the experience of new adventures, pushing not for what is but for what is possible, and embracing a life without limits. We will cherish the impact she made on our lives and the fond memories of love and laughter we shared with her.
