Charles Philip Shively, 57, died Nov. 28, 2018 following excellent end of life medical care at Mid-Michigan Medical Center in Midland. Charlie was born Feb. 27, 1961 to W. Joseph Shively and Joan M. Shively in Santa Monica, Calif. He was raised throughout the Midwest, including Kentucky, Indiana, Michigan, and Ohio; lived as an adult in Massachusetts and California with his wife and children; and has lived the past two years in Greenbush. Charlie graduated from Worthington High School, Ohio and the University of Northern Colorado, Journalism and Communication. He worked in many areas of print and digital communications and most recently in sales at Oscoda Plastics in Oscoda. Charlie loved the outdoors and felt both at peace and energized enjoying the beauty of northern Michigan. He was a master of entertainment trivia, had a vast knowledge of all musical genre. He was a self-taught guitarist and song writer, and enjoyed creating folk art from treasures found in nature and on the family farm. Charlie is survived by his children Samuel Charles Shively and Nicholas Joseph Shively, and wife Jennifer (Erdmann) Shively, California; mother Joan (Lenhart) Shively, Greenbush; brother Joseph Shively, Alpena; sister Elle (Jerry) Button, Greenbush; brothers John Shively, Ohio; Andrew (Danielle) Shively, Vermont; five nieces and nephews including Karl Havens, East Lansing; Emma Havens, Detroit; Mary Joan (Garrick) Button Vance, Texas; Kathryn Raechel Button, California; and Olivia Shively, Vermont. He is preceded in death by his father W. Joseph Shively, brother Samuel B. Shively, and sister-in -law Kim Havens Shively. He is also survived by various family in California, Michigan and Colorado.
