Salley – Phillip “Phil” Michael Howe, 56, entered into rest Friday, August 4, 2017 Phil is the husband of Catherine “Katie” Ross Howe and God Father of Mariah Ross. He is the brother and brother-in-law of Patricia Howe Tilton and Ward of Centerville, Ohio, Chris Howe Miller and Dave Miller of Louisville, Kentucky, and the late Elton Wayne Howe, III. Phil is also the brother-in-law of Alan Ross of Largo, Florida, Robin Fisher and John of Johnson City, Tennessee, Cindy Maynard and Jack of Clearwater, Florida, Farther Isaac Ross of Puerto Maldonado, Peru, Hugh Ross and Amy of Carmel Indiana, and Mary Griffin and Jay of Huntsville, Alabama. Phil is the son of the late Elton Wayne Howe, Jr. and the late Phyllis Louise Jones Howe. He is the son-in-law of Helen Ross of Largo, Florida and the late Hugh Ross. He is the Uncle of Matthew Tilton, Nicole Tilton, and Amanda Howe Vitto and Tripp Vitto. Phil graduated high school in 1979 from Worthington High School in Worthington, Ohio where he competed in wrestling. He continued his education at Ohio State University where he obtained a BS in business in 1984. Phil was recruited by National Cash Register (NCR) as a Purchasing, Program/Customer Management. Phil and Katie met at NCR in 1988 and married October 31, 1992. While living in Irmo SC, Phil started bird hunting again, a pastime that he, his brother and father shared up in Ohio. With his Irish Setters (Clover, Dublin, Claire & Warlock), they participated in many Gun Field trials in South Carolina and competed with Dublin in one national trial in Arkansas. In 2006, Phil and Katie purchased their farm in Aiken County fulfilling a lifetime desire to farm. He loved the art of researching his farm projects for creating pastures, sweet corn and finally cows. He also devoted part of the land for development of quail habitat. Throughout his life, Phil loved the outdoors. This love started early with the camping trips his family would take during the summers. Packing up the camper, the family headed out west to visit the major National Parks all over the states (favorites being Grand Tetons and Yellowstone). Last year he got to return to the Grand Tetons for a last adventure out west.
