Amy Henrietta Boock, 100, passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 2, 2026, at Willow Brook Christian Home in Columbus, Ohio. Amy was born in Cleveland, Ohio, on October 16, 1925, to the Reverend Walter and Mrs. Clara Bischoff. She grew up with a love of learning, music, faith, and family that would guide her throughout her long and meaningful life. After graduating from Charles F. Brush High School in South Euclid, Ohio, in 1943, Amy worked for the War Production Board for a year and a half before attending Valparaiso University. It was there that she met Oscar “Ozzie” Boock of Wisconsin. They both graduated in 1948 and were married that same year, beginning a devoted partnership filled with family, service, travel, and shared faith. Amy and Ozzie lived in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, until moving to Worthington, Ohio, in 1964. Amy taught kindergarten for two years in Milwaukee and first grade for one year in Berlin, Ohio, before finding a beloved place in the Colonial Hills Elementary School community. She taught second grade there from 1966 to 1985 and continued giving her time as a volunteer for 17 additional years, touching the lives of generations of children with patience, kindness, and care. During her teaching years she attended OSU Graduate Studies in Childhood Education and Library Science. An accomplished musician, Amy sang soprano in the church choir for 24 years. In 1975, she donated a piano to the music department of Valparaiso University in memory of her own piano teacher, a reflection of her deep appreciation for music and those who nurtured it. In retirement, Amy and Ozzie traveled to more than 30 countries. At age 84, she took a memorable trip to Egypt with her 86-year-old sister, where they sailed the Nile and rode camels. Amy also enjoyed golf, Bible study, book club, and sewing. A talented seamstress, she made casual and business clothes, gowns and wedding dresses and lovingly crafted more than 1,100 infant blankets for the Prince of Peace layette program. Amy was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband, Ozzie; and her siblings Paul Bischoff, Gretchen Bischoff Radzow, Hans Bischoff, Richard Bischoff, and Dorothy Bischoff Gregory. She is survived by her sister, Louise Bischoff Pollock; her children, Ray (Diana) Boock, Paula (Peter) Bernbaum, and Ken (Lisa) Boock; her grandsons, Chris (Erinn) Kallay, Jeff Kallay, Nick (Sarah) Kallay, and Graydon Boock; her granddaughter Jessica (Eddie) Bernbaum Saguier, her great-grandsons, Liam and Quinn Kallay; her great-granddaughters, Maelyn and Adelyn Kallay; and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews who will remember her with love. Amy will be remembered as a faithful child of God; a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother; and a gracious woman whose gifts, steady faith, and generous spirit blessed all who knew her. To her friends, Amy was an inspiration; a model for hope and joy in life. We will all miss her.
