Victor E. Badertscher, M.D. of Delaware, Ohio passed away peacefully at home on February 5, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. Vic was born to Edwin and Olive Badertscher on July 11, 1937. He graduated from Thomas Worthington High School in 1955 and went on to earn a Bachelor's degree from Capital University and his Doctor of Medicine from The Ohio State University. Vic practiced medicine in several locations prior to settling down with his small family in Delaware, Ohio where he opened his general medicine practice on Northwood Drive. He treated patients at this office until 1984, then accepted a position as a physician at the VA Outpatient Clinic. This allowed him more time to focus on his family. He retired in 2003. He was a quiet man of few words and often described as kind and gentle. He was deeply thoughtful, often agonizing over how to react to situations, so that nothing he said or did would ever be hurtful to friends, colleagues or those he loved. He was passionate about the game of football which he played in high school and college, classical music, coffee, Oreos, Coke and his family, including the four-legged furry ones. He loved his family unconditionally and when asked recently about his greatest joys in life, he replied, "bringing his children home for the first time." Vic is survived by his beloved wife, Diane. He is also survived by children, Laurie Miller (Bruce King), Ned (Molly) Badertscher and Michele (Greg) Miller. He was blessed with eight grandchildren, Heath (Alicia) Oberle, Jordin (Charlie) Brinn, Zachary Miller, Ethan Badertscher, Tyler Badertscher, Jack Badertscher, Sarah (Marc) McClellan and Greg (Madison) Miller and six great-grandchildren. He was loved always by sister, Ruth (Gary) Rusk. The family extends their deepest gratitude to the Inn at Olentangy Trail for their loving care and support, and to Capital City Hospice for their dedicated service and compassion during Vic's last days.
