Russ Hill, age 95, of Worthington, passed away on August 20, 2025. Russ has lived in the Worthington area since 1944. He was a graduate of Worthington High School and The Ohio State University. He taught instrumental music in Chillicothe, Ohio, and the Worthington City School District. He played in many different instrumental groups in central Ohio as a professional trumpet player. He was very active with the OSU Alumni Band and helped form the first Alumni Band reunion. Russ was past president of the active Alumni Band and past president of the Script Ohio Club. He was also past president of TBDBITL. He was a member of Phi Mu Alpha music fraternity. He has been a member of the Worthington Presbyterian Church since 1944, where he served on several committees over the years. Russ was a partner of Coyle Music Center for 35 years. Together, with the help of some wonderful associates, they built a great business. He was very proud of all the employees at Coyle Music Center. He was active in two music industry associations, NAMM and NASMD. Russ was a veteran of the Korean War. He was a member of the University Masonic Lodge and a member of the Aladdin Shrine Band, where he enjoyed many trips with his Shriner friends. He loved golf and his golfing buddies, and was a member of York Golf Club for several years. Russ is preceded in death by the love of his life, wife Jane (Hutson) Hill, parents Robert D. and Dorothy Hill, and brother Robert S. Hill. Russ is survived by his daughters, Debbie (Terry) Tyler, and Laura (Dwight) Drake; his four grandchildren: Brian (Jen) Drake, Dan (Rachael) Drake, Justin Tyler, and Jessica (Cameron) Weimer; and four great-grandchildren: Aiden and Maggie Drake, and Marley and Wells Weimer.
