Emily Dole Martiny passed away suddenly in a car accident in New Mexico on Thursday, March 28, 2024. Emily was born in Columbus Ohio, on February 25, 1986 to Lynda (Ken) Fields and Bob (Dianna) Martiny. She is survived by her grandmother, Judy Labadie; her siblings, Rob (Sarah) Martiny, Liz (Jason) Crites, and Michael (Becky) Martiny; aunts and uncles, Mary (Art) Buys, Sandy (Al) Festa Martiny, Sally (Kirk) Martiny, Mark (Marilyn) Labadie, Anne Labadie, David Labadie, and Michael (Lisa) Labadie Drake. She was Aunt to many nieces and nephews, Emma, Jacob, Mason, Abby, Katie, Devyn, and Gus; and also blessed with many cousins and step family members…brothers, sisters, nieces and nephews. Emily was preceded in death by her grandfathers, Howard Labadie and Gordon Martiny; her grandmother, Dorothy Martiny; and Uncle Steve. Emily was born with the biggest bluest eyes you could imagine. She was a perfect child and always happy, joking, and giggling. As a child, Emily had the spirit of a wild mustang and was always ready for a fun time. She lit up the room with the most radiant genuine smile, the loudest most contagious laugh, and many MANY Emily shenanigans throughout the years. She always had a wild sense of adventure and artistic imagination. Her creations of artwork are priceless and cherished by her family. She was an ally to many and a loyal friend to those who gave her comfort. She was stubborn, headstrong, and compassionate for the things she believed in. Emily was very believable and always spoke her truth even if it was tough. Some favorite memories her family remembers are of Emily singing loudest on family road trips, Up North adventures swimming, tubing, and building sandcastles, wrestling with her brother in the car, giving the biggest loving hugs, the pride she showed in the things she loved, how her eyes lit up when she saw something or someone she loved, and when she talked to you, her full attention was with you. Emily graduated from Worthington Kilbourne High School in 2004. She attended Colorado State University where her club lacrosse team won a national championship and came in second twice. Emily graduated Cum Laude from The Ohio State University with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in 2010. Her love of adventure took her out west where she had many friends she loved and adored. These friends felt the same about her. They were family to her and she felt a strong bond with her tribe of special souls. Emily loved to travel, enjoyed photography, graphic design and new technology, working with children, meeting new people and adventure. In her later years, Emily suffered greatly from mental illness. Her family and friends fought hard for years to get her the help she needed, to no avail. Her family is completely heartbroken and ask that you continue to pray for peace. They ask that you pray for a change in a broken system; to help support people who suffer from mental illness.
