David Aubrey Herron, 62, died on Sunday, January 28, 2024 of pancreatic cancer, surrounded by his loving family at home. David was preceded in death by his father Robert L. Herron. Surviving David are his mother Joan A. Herron, his brother Mark A. Herron, his sister Julie A. Thomas and brother-in-law Andrew G. Thomas, as well as nephews Aubrey (Brandi) Herron and Adam Irish, nieces Emily (Ben) Hilsheimer and Sarah (Glen) Clement, step-niece Cherise (Danny)Williams, and many great nieces and nephews. Also surviving are David (Maggie) Strickland and Kyle Strickland, his stepsons. David brought light and happiness into all whose lives he touched. David grew up in Worthington, Ohio. David was a talented carpenter who put care into every job, and an avid lover of nature. He was an active soccer player and sports fan, and was very good at fantasy football. He also loved to cook and was an amateur chef for his family. David loved the outdoors, he liked to hike and camp. Over the years David made many friends, and was known to be the most kind, compassionate, and non-judgmental person. All who knew him felt welcomed and accepted, and he had an encouraging word for anyone he came in contact with. David studied Ecology, Zoology and Palaeontology at OSU and was a keen birdwatcher and observer of the natural world. David loved animals. During his life he was able to travel with friends and family to many places in the world, and he brought back with him countless memories and stories which he enjoyed sharing. David had a great sense of humor and brought a smile to everyone he knew. The world is a little less bright without him in it. He will be sorely missed.
