Ann Elaine Hottenroth passed away Monday November 6, 2023 at home. She was 89. Elaine was born in Galion to Earl B. and Helen King Hottenroth. Elaine graduated from Galion High School in 1952, Capital University in 1956, and Bowling Green State University in 1959 with a Master’s degree in Theater. She taught at Whitehall Yearling high school and Berkley in Michigan. She then began her 30 years of service to Worthington students as an English and drama teacher. In 1971, she was named activities director, directing 25 musicals and numerous plays. Elaine was instrumental in promoting the arts and the planning of three auditoriums, so the Thomas Worthington High School performing arts center was named the Hottenroth Center for the Performing Arts. She was also named to the Worthington High School Hall of Fame. Elaine retired in 1991 and returned to Galion where she continued her passion for theater in growing the Galion Community Theatre. She was recognized as Galion Citizen of the Year in 1995 and a member of the Galion Alumni Hall of Fame in 2010. Elaine was preceded in death by her parents Earl B. and Helen King Hottenroth; brother, E. Richard Hottenroth, and sister, Nancy Bartz Herman. She is survived by her nieces and nephews: David (Pamela) Hottenroth, Roger (Sherry) Bartz, Gail (Craig) Castro, Christine (Timothy) Snider, and Marc (Heather) Hottenroth.
