Bralynn Edward Thornton, 30, passed away on April 30, 2023 in Columbus, Ohio; while visiting from Due West, South Carolina. Bralynn, also known as Brandon, was born on April 7, 1993 in Columbus, Ohio at OSU Hospital. They attended Colonial Hills and Brookside Elementary in Worthington for primary school, Perry Middle School in Worthington and Worthington Kilbourne High School. After completing their education, Bralynn worked at Kroger Dublin in Deli department where they were later trained to work in the Murray Cheese department assisting and educating customers with food, cheese and wine pairings while delivering the pinnacle of customer service. With that level of customer service experience they knew that they could parlay that into a lucrative career of being a server. Bralynn worked at a variety of Columbus area restaurants such as Chili’s, Phillips Coney, Wings & Rings, Beer Barrel and most recently The Outback Steak House where they were being considered to become a manager. At an very early age they developed a passion for all things food whether it was preparing or cooking food or just being a foodie. In a high school cooking class cook-off at Worthington Kilbourne; Bralynn won by preparing and cooking his Mama’s recipe of Johnny Marzetti. Bralynn won and was awarded a summer internship at four Columbus area Mitchell restaurants. Bralynn remarked how it was more like work than a prize. Bralynn was a person who loved to make people laugh with their wild sense of humor; and the sound of their laughter would in turn make you laugh harder. They were intelligent, loyal, wise beyond their years, hardworking and spiritual. Bralynn also enjoyed knitting, baking, drawing, collecting gemstones, crystals and listening to music. Bralynn was preceded in death by their maternal grandmother Diane Mcfarland, aunt Melissa Lewis, paternal grandmother Alice Lee Applin, and paternal grandfather Kenneth Applin. They are survived by their partner Adam “Verbal” Wolf, mother Terrie Thornton, father Juan Applin, siblings Christopher McClinton (Nora Balduff), Juanita Applin, and Juan Applin, grandparents Thomas and Sharon Thornton, aunts Tiffany Thornton (Alex Howard), Tammy Jackson, and Charon James, uncles Bryan Thornton, John (Leslie) Thornton, and Thomas Thornton Jr.. A host of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and few very close friends who were certainly like family. Bralynn will be deeply missed by their family and friends. They will always be remembered for their kind and caring heart, the love of their partner Verbal, Mother Terrie, Brother Chris, Nephew Kahlo, family and friends, pursuit of knowledge, love of the universe and earth, infectious laughter, and all things they were amazing at.
