Michael Ray Stephan, of Columbus, Ohio, passed away unexpectedly on April 6, 2023. He was born on April 19, 1986, in Columbus, Ohio, to Rick and Lisa Stephan. Michael graduated from Worthington Kilbourne High School in 2004. He and his wife Katelynn Webb have previously lived in Austin, Texas; Denver, Colorado; and had recently returned to Columbus, Ohio in 2022. Michael had a deep love for his wife Katelynn, who supported him unconditionally throughout every challenge the two of them faced together. Becoming a father to his son Lucas was one of the greatest joys of Michael's life. He had such a deep love for his son and an appreciation for who he would become as he grew older. From the moment Lucas was born Michael was already the proudest dad a son could ever ask for. Michael's ambition and passion for knowledge were unmatched. He was an accomplished engineer with over 10 years of network engineering experience who managed company-wide initiatives for some of the largest companies in the tech industry. He was a resource and mentor for so many that knew him, and he never shied away from the challenge of learning something new. He is survived by the love of his life, Katelynn Webb; his 3-year-old son, Lucas; mother, Lisa Stallard (stepfather, Dave Stallard); father, Rick Stephan (Elisa Coleman); grandparents, Ray Stephan and Joanne Calafiura; grandfather, Bill Bletz; grandmother, Beverly Bletz; two aunts; three uncles; and numerous cousins. He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Jean Bletz. Michael was known for his immense compassion for others, for the most vulnerable and fragile people. He was always willing to lend a hand to those in need. He always reached out to others with unconditional love and was a light for others in their darkest days. He was a loyal, true, loving, and honest friend. He will always be remembered for being a bright light in this life, for his sense of humor, and for his beautiful (and often mischievous) smile that brightened any room.
